Eating A Vegan Diet Is Easier Than You Think

The vegan diet is more popular than ever these days. More and more people are interested in animal welfare and choose not participate in animal cruelty in any way. Moreover, people are aware that animal agriculture is harmful to the environment through pollution and consumption of fossil fuels. Finally, many people choose the vegan diet for health reasons, hoping to achieve or maintain a healthy weight and improve conditions like high blood pressure or high blood sugar. However, for long-time meat eaters, changing to a vegan diet may seem daunting, requiring too much of a learning curve. If you are contemplating trying out a vegan diet, there are a lot of simple, convenient foods you can still have. Consider the following Vegan food list.

  • Salads. One of the easiest and healthiest convenience foods is a salad. Although many single-serving salads include cheese, you can find some vegan salads at the grocery store. You can also make your own with a bag of pre-washed, pre-cut greens, some crumbled nuts, some dried fruit, like cranberries, and any other chopped vegetable you want to add. If you like a basic Italian dressing, you can easily find one with no animal products, but if you’re a fan of Ranch dressing, which usually contains buttermilk and eggs, you’ll need to look for a vegan brand, like Just Ranch.
  • Soups. In the winter, nothing is more comforting or nourishing than a rich vegetable, potato, or mushroom soup. You can put all the veggies you want into a crock pot early in the morning and come home to an aromatic stew in the evening. Beans are filling soup additions along with grains, like barley or rice. If you like creamy soups, try the recipe with a vegan milk, like rice milk, soy milk, or almond milk.
  • Meat substitutes. If you don’t want to give up the texture of meat, there are some realistic meat substitutes on the market. The taste will not be identical to meat, but the texture and flavor can be satisfying. Hot dogs, burgers, bacon and ground beef all come in vegan versions, made with tofu, a soy-based product, or seitan, which is made from whole wheat.
